A rehabilitative gift

In 2011 Keith Wellin suffered a severe stroke. With his wife Wendy by his side, he came to Roper Rehabilitation Hospital to begin the long rehab process. Under the supervision of physiatrist Dr. Nancey Tsai, Keith continues to beat the odds. The Wellins generously donated $1,000,000, in honor of Dr. Tsai, to enhance care for future neuro-stroke patients at Roper Rehab.

Funding unparalled access to care

Roper Hospital is the first and only hospital on the Charleston peninsula with a rooftop helipad for emergency helicopter transportation, thanks to nearly $1.8 million in donor support. The helipad will save at least 15 minutes from the previous transportation process, allowing patients to receive life-saving treatment within minutes of arrival.
